In order to save money, I recommend the 128 GB version to most people. It’s very likely that you’ll be able to survive on it until the next generation of headsets come out (the Quest 4).

1. Amazon AU (Fastest Shipping & Best Deal)

The Amazon Australia platform often lists popular electronics, including VR headsets like the Oculus Quest 3 (and Oculus Quest 2).

I recommend using Amazon AU because of their 30-day return policy. If you order a Quest 3 from Amazon and for whatever reason, you don’t like it, you can return it and get a refund – even if the headset is used. For example: If you try and VR and get motion sick, you can return the headset.

By ordering from Amazon AU, you’ll also get the product delivered from Australia which is faster.

2. Official Meta Website (Best Direct Purchasing Experience)

The Oculus website often provides the most direct purchasing experience, and they do ship to many countries, including Australia. However, I still recommend ordering from Amazon for 2 reasons:

1. Porch Pirates: Oftentimes, the delivery person will just toss the package in front of your house, making it liable to get stolen. See this thread as an example.
2. Slower deliveries, since the stock comes from Asia (as opposed to Amazon AU which uses Australian stock). The return process can also take longer.
3. Amazon AU has better return policies.

However, if for some reason Amazon is more expensive, then go with this option.

3. Kogan (Best For Existing Customers)

Kogan is one of Australia’s biggest online retailers and there’s a good chance you’ve used them before.

Kogan is an online business only, meaning it’s delivery only (no pickup). The good news is that delivery is completely free.

If you have a Kogan account, they sometimes give you free credits through email (if you’re a previous customer), which you can use to purchase a Quest 3. I’m not 100% sure how they decide when to give credit though.

Dick Smith is one of the most iconic retail stores in Australia, recently owned by Kogan.

Dick Smith is the best place to get a Meta Quest 3 in stores in Australia. It’s one of the few places where you can get it via pickup, but just make sure you order it online first and select the “pick-up” option. The Quest 3 is in high demand and not all Dick Smith stores will have it in stock.

5. Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree (Best For Second Hand)

Oftentimes, people will sell their brand new or used Quest 3 on Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree. Some people buy the headset and don’t like it because it can cause VR motion sickness, headaches, or some other reason. You can buy these for a discount on these online marketplaces. However, exercise caution and ensure you’re purchasing from a reputable seller to avoid potential scams.

For those who are confused on which size they should get, here’s my recommendation:

1. Are you planning on recording your gameplay, or spending more than $500 on games? If yes, then get the 512 GB version.
2. Otherwise, get the 128 GB version. This will suit 90% of people.

The Quest 3 is an upgrade in almost every way over the Quest 2 – higher resolution, twice the processing power, more RAM, upgraded lenses for better clarity (pancake lenses), color passthrough, better controllers and lighter and more comfortable. This is definitely worth the extra price.

Which Version Should I Get?

A frequently asked question is: which version should I get? My recommendation is the 128 GB version. If it’s out of stock, you can either wait, or get the 512 GB version instead.

Basically: Movies and recording gameplay takes up a lot of space – so you might want the 512 GB version instead if you plan on having movies or recordings on your Quest 3. If you play ALOT of games, you  might find it handy to pick up the bigger one as well.

What About Elite Strap and Accessories?

Elite Strap is a great improvement to comfort, but has durability issues. There are cheaper straps on the market that are better.

If you were thinking of getting one, instead I recommend other comfort mods.

Having 1-2 comfort mods will make your VR experience more enjoyable.

Tl;dr: The Quest 3 is available in Dick Smith. The other way to get your Quest is by ordering it online.
