If you can’t pair your Meta Quest 3 with your phone, don’t worry, this is a common issue that can be fixed. Here’s how:
“Unable to Connect”
The Most Common Reason for “unable to connect” phone to Quest 3 is an incompatible phone model. **Update: Meta just released a patch to fix this issue. Simply update your Meta Quest app on your phone and you’ll be able to pair successfully.
If you’re using an older phone model like the iPhone 6s or Sony Xperia, you might find yourself stuck on the “pairing” screen after you enter the 5 digit code. I’ve personally had the same issue and tried everything including contacting Meta Support.
At the moment, we can only wait until Meta fixes this. So in the meantime, I recommend you borrow someone’s phone to pair with your headset instead.
All you need to do is:
- Borrow a phone
- Install Meta Quest app
- Log into your Meta account
- Pair the Meta Quest 3 with this phone
- You can delete the app.
Now the Quest 3 should be paired to your account and ready to use. You can install the Meta Quest app on your own phone and use it normally.
Can’t Pair Because Meta Quest 3 is Missing From Devices List
If you can’t pair because the Meta Quest 3 device is missing from your phone, the solution is to just update your Meta Quest app. Once it’s updated, it should appear on the list.
Troubleshooting
Sometimes, there are other reasons for Meta Quest 3 not pairing with your phone. If you can’t pair, then I suggest following these troubleshooting steps:
- Clear the Bluetooth cache
- Restart both devices
- Ensure both devices are connected to the same WiFi
- Ensure Bluetooth is turned ON
- Reinstall the Meta Quest app and try again.
- Perform a factory reset if you still can’t pair your phone to Meta Quest 3
Finally, if everything fails, you can also try contacting Oculus support.
