What Games Can You Play on The Oculus Quest 2?

Before we can answer this question, you have to understand one thing: The Quest 2 can function in two different ways.

  1. As a wireless, standalone headset where you can start playing it straight out of the box. This only allows you to play games from the Oculus Quest store and SideQuest.
  2. If you have the Oculus Link cable and a powerful computer, you can connect the headset to your PC which allows you to play PC VR games.

How do I know if a game such as Half-Life: Alyx requires Oculus Link or not?

The answer is quite simple. Browse the Oculus Quest store (NOT the Oculus Rift store) and if the game exists there, it means you can play it without Oculus Link.

You can also try searching SideQuest, but that’s mostly for early access games.

If the game is NOT on the Oculus Quest store OR SideQuest, then you’ll probably need a powerful PC and the Oculus Link cable in order to play it.

What games can you play on Oculus Link?

Oculus Link allows you to play basically every VR game except console exclusive titles. As long as you have a VR-ready computer, you’ll be able to play all the games from our best VR games list.

The Quest 2 allows you to play any VR game on Steam as well, given your computer can run it.

Basically… Any game that other headsets can run (Valve Index, Reverb G2, Vive, and Rift S), the Quest 2 can run as well through Oculus Link or Air Link. The only games it can’t run are those exclusive to Playstation VR.
